Nue has just launched Release 2406, and there’s a lot worth knowing about. Upgrades to both Lifecycle Manager and Everything Billing will help you transition customers to and from a popular subscription model, streamline the process of collecting outstanding payments, and more.

Let’s look at some major headliners.

Popular among customers who want a low-risk subscription option, the evergreen subscription model charges the customer on a recurring basis without a set end date. You can now use Nue to create, modify, and invoice evergreen subscriptions. 

To create an evergreen product, go to the Nue platform’s Product Catalog and select “Evergreen” in the Renewal field. You can add this model to each order through the Line Editor, or create an evergreen bundle where each child product is also evergreen. Each line item will automatically update to remove an End Date or Subscription Term, since these are not applicable to the evergreen model.

You may also want to transition customers to a termed subscription once they become more confident in the product or agree to a contract. You (or the end customer themselves) can do that at any time through Nue’s Lifecycle Manager, or change a termed subscription to an evergreen model. 

In the event a customer switches from an evergreen subscription to a termed subscription, Nue will automatically calculate what the customer owes for the evergreen subscription up to today’s date, and what prorated amount they owe for the upcoming term.

Release 2406 has refreshed the Invoice interface within Everything Billing for greater efficiency and ease of use. It now offers the same one-click, shopping cart-styled functionality that Nue already provides for subscription management. Enhancements span both the Invoice List page, which aggregates multiple invoices, and the Invoice Detail page that provides data on a specific invoice.

Enhancements to the Invoice List page include: 

• The ability to perform Batch Actions on multiple invoices. You can highlight multiple invoices to rapidly activate, cancel, or delete them all at once. 
• Color coding for an at-a-glance overview of Payment Status and other key metrics
• A dropdown menu from which you can add or remove fields. Your configuration will be saved on the browser side so it will persist each time you view the Invoice List page.

Enhancements to the invoice detail page include:

• A list of individual invoice items, each listed alongside relevant actions for easy management.
• A dedicated Change History section that tracks all updates and modifications.

Nue’s Invoice PDF feature will allow you to instantly generate a PDF for any invoice and email it to customers. With robust customization options, you can easily ensure invoices include the right information in an appealing aesthetic. 

When this feature is active, you’ll notice new “email notification” and “invoice template” options for invoices. The former will allow you to relay invoices to selected contacts via email, while the latter gives you the opportunity to create and customize distinct templates.

Invoice customization options include

• Adding or removing columns and fields via dropdown menu 
• Specifying custom invoice numbers
• Adding customer logos and auto-generating a color scheme based on the logo
• Customizing fonts
• Editing terms and conditions

Note that Invoice PDF is currently in preview; it’s available to demo on request, and will become generally available in the next release.

The collections process is critical to get right to achieve a sustainable cash flow, and Nue’s newly introduced Collections APIs give you flexibility in how you handle that process. Using the APIs, you can streamline collections by linking to and from any external system via API calls. As a result, you no longer need manual integration with a limited number of supported payment systems. With these APIs, Nue serves as a Transaction Hub that automatically relays information to and from your payment system of choice.

You can generate invoices, credit memos (which reduce the outstanding credit balance), and debit memos (which increase the outstanding credit balance). In turn, these will be updated and charged appropriately in external payment systems. See below for a high-level overview of how Nue’s collections functionality works.

Advanced Auto-Numbering Schemes

You can now leverage a new API to auto-number objects on the Nue platform in line with popular ERP systems like QuickBooks and NetSuite.

Webhook support for price tags and price tiers

You can now leverage Nue’s support for webhooks to detect if a price tag or price tier has been created or deleted within Nue.
